The following students from MMS competed at the MCSD Middle School Math Tournament on Saturday, April 19:

            8th Grade:  Josh Rosa, Randy Bissett, Anne Wise, Charlene Walton, Dan Walton, and Asha Owens     
            6th Grade:  Hamzah Ali, Tristan Porter
             The top scorer for MMS was Dan Walton, who also finished in the top ten overall.  Asha and Charlene also finished in the top 25.

MIDLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS SHARE THEIR ARTWORK WITH THE WORLD!

 Midland, GA -- Move Over Famous Artists! Midland Middle School artists are taking over the spotlight!  James
 Decker, the school's Art Teacher, has teamed up with Artsonia, www.artsonia.com -- the world's largest
 online kid's art museum -- to display the students' artwork.
 Anyone can view the school gallery online at: www.artsonia.com/schools/midland2. Visitors can browse the
 artwork in the school gallery by grade level, or by specific exhibits.  Midland Middle School students join
 thousands of students from over 100 countries whose artwork is showcased on Artsonia. "This program is a wonderful
 way to get parents and family members more involved in Art Education," said James Decker.

Rachel Hawk is not only the talented keeper for the undefeated city champion Lady Jaguars’ soccer squad, but she is an
award winning artist as well.

In a state wide art competition, ”Bringing the USS Georgia home:  Celebrating Georgia’s Ambassadors for Peace,”  Rachel’s poster design was selected as a first-place winner for middle schools.  Rachel will receive a cash award of one hundred dollars, a signed photograph of the USS Georgia, a certificate signed by the captain, and an official USS Georgia baseball cap.  In addition, her framed design will be on display along with the other winners at the homecoming of the USS Georgia to Kingsbay Submarine Base, St. Mary’s Island on March 28th.  Rachel’s sensitive watercolour pencil rendering features a sailor saluting the returning submarine as it sails silently into a Georgia peach sunset.
